Last Friday Night, the Varsity Football team began their quest for the CCS Open Division 1 title. Their first opponent was Piedmont Hills High School of San Jose. The Bells started out hot by scoring three quick touchdowns in the first quarter. The Bells did not let up the pressure throughout the second quarter as the half ended with a score of 42-6 with touchdowns by Jackson Burrill, Brendan Manigo, Dillon Andrews, Jack Devine, and Austin Ajiake. Throughout the second half, the Bells held up the pressure against Piedmont Hills’ offense but were unable to score again in the second half. The final score of the game was 42-12.

As the team prepares for tomorrow, the Bells will face off against Menlo-Atherton High School at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, 11/18, at Menlo-Atherton. The Bears hold the #1 seed in the CCS Open Division 1 bracket and are coming off a big win against Wilcox with the score 42-14. Although the Bells are in the 4th seed spot, they beat Menlo-Atherton 34-20 in the first game of the season for both teams. Obviously, a lot of time has passed since these two teams faced off against each other and the Bells are in for a tough game. Additionally, per Max Preps, Bellarmine is ranked 85th in the state while Menlo Atherton is ranked 106th. Despite these rankings, they are just numbers and at the end of the day it comes down to how the team plays on the day of the game. Either way, it will be an exciting match-up so please come and support your fellow Bells as they battle for an upset victory!
