Every Monday, the BellHacks club meets in OD-003 at lunch and spark creativity through computer science. Led by president Aditya Behal ’20, the BellHacks club covers a variety of computer science aspects, and prior experience is not necessary.
For instance, BellHacks covers the common programming language known as Python, and different programming challenges are allocated each meeting. Various challenges are attempted based on levels of difficulty, and members compete for bragging rights.
In addition, BellHacks covers web design through languages such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. Studying important ideas in the modern world of technology such as web design and ethical hacking truly prepare students for the real world.
Overall, creativity is encouraged, and many members of the team engage in group projects. But perhaps BellHacks’ biggest event of the year is the hackathon that is planned for January at Bellarmine. A hackathon is a friendly competition where competitors design a computer program to win a prize.
The organizers (Aditya Behal ’20, Aadit Trivedi ’21, Kevin Raphael ’20, Samarth Girish ’21, Kevin Thomas ’20, Tanay Menezes ’20, Nikhil Nambiar ’20) are looking forward to this momentous event where competitors across the Bay Area will convene to win a grand prize!
