Wade Hall Demolition & Jesuit Residence

by Rayyan Mohamed ’25

In recent years, Bellarmine has undergone various construction projects. Earlier this year for example, the four-level Stockton parking structure was completed and utilized for the first time. This development is only just the start of a broader range of campus construction plans about to happen here on campus.

One current construction project is the demolition of Wade Hall which served as the Jesuit residence. As a replacement, a new residence is being built adjacent to O’Donnell Hall on University Avenue which is planned to complete this month. In an interview with Mr. Miller, the Chief Financial Officer of Bellarmine, he stated “This is part of our long-range campus plan which includes both new building construction and renovations. This effort will both revamp and reshape the look and feel of our campus.”

As for Wade Hall, demolition will begin in December of this year. There will be a new academic building that will encompass the current location of Wade Hall and part of the Liccardo parking space. Mr. Miller describes the Wade Academic center as a “2 level, 43,000 square foot building which will contain 21 new classrooms and areas for academic administration and support.”

Yet though these new facilities seem exciting, they are far from complete. Students can expect changes far and wide to academic centers, parking zones, and new facilities. Here is the list of campus construction deadlines:

Summer 2023: Stockton parking garage
Winter 2023: Jesuit residence
Spring 2024: Berchman Hall
Winter 2025: Wade Academic center
Later: remodeling of Liccardo, other plans
