Letter from the Editors – A New Era, Summer 2025

By Jake Kwon ’26

As I sit here typing away on a sunny Tuesday afternoon in the newspaper office, I see golden streaks of light permeate the windows, editors working away on articles, and hear the subtle movement of the water passing through the pipes. Every little minute detail has its own place in the office, culminating into what I call a serene symphony of purpose. For my three years at this institution, I have seen many highs, a couple lows, and of course, many different articles. We pump out articles weekly, pouring our hearts into what we truly care about:

Spreading the word.

That is what gives us fulfillment. This is what makes us who we are. For the past couple of years, the Bell Online has been producing hundreds upon hundreds of articles–ranging from construction updates, to the introduction of new course offerings, and new teachers. We’ve constantly made it our objective to help inform, distribute and provide voices to our students and faculty members—the individuals who, simply put, make Bellarmine…BELLARMINE

But if there’s one flaw that I think needs to be addressed, it’s this: like many of our fellow school newspapers, we push ourselves to the brink of collapse during the school year, and crash out before the summer even begins. We fall dormant during the summer.

Not this year.

Starting this summer, many of my fellow journalists and I will be bringing you constant updates on school or global events throughout June and July–ranging from the new Justice Summit, to the new course policies, and to local restaurants nearby–because that’s what counts. Our readers deserve the best and there’s no reason to suspend articles during the summer.

I hope you all are willing to join us on our journey. Stay tuned for a revamped podcast, video productions, and a new Summer Catalog. And as always…GO BELLS!
