Lowell Invitational Cross Country Meet, Tuesday 9/21

This year, the Bellarmine cross-country team saw massive success in their first official meet of the year, which occured on Tuesday, 9/21, at the Lowell Invitational meet at Golden Gate Park.

The Lowell Invitational is a cross country meet that takes place in Golden Gate Park, and it has powerful competition from all over the bay. The running course itself was unique in its flat terrain. “It was one of the flatter courses we’ll run this year,” remarked runner Kyle Butler ’22, who finished 13th. The Bellarmine JV team dominated the standings, coming in first place and sweeping the podium, securing places 1-5 in dominant fashion — a perfect score. Out of the top 15, 9 runners were from Bellarmine. The Bellarmine Varsity team came in second, securing solid positions on the podium. “It was really cool, I really missed it, the kind of energy from the crowd. The competitive feel you get running against other people, not having to wear a mask, it was really nice, and I missed it,” said Butler. The Bells will have a target on their back after finishing 1st in CCS last year and dominating in the West Catholic Athletic League. It was Bellarmine’s first official meet and it’s a good sign that this team is performing so well.
