Last weekend, the Maker Lab and BCRC held their first-ever combat robotics tournament, Bell Brawls!

To make it all happen, the Maker Lab and BCRC collaborated with Theatre Tech, Robotics, and the MEAT Club to build the arena, set up the livestream, and provide lunch for attendees. This event was in the works for several weeks, and it was incredible to see how it all came together.

The entire event was livestreamed on BCP’s official YouTube channel, @BellarmineBells and the student-based production team had full agency over course of the event. To see replays from the event, click here: youtube.com/watch?v=SjLFA85jAxg

Throughout the event, volunteers also sold merchandise produced by the Maker Lab, which ranged from keychains and ornaments to custom Bell Brawls t-shirts. And for lunch, the MEAT Club barbequed burgers, hot dogs, and tri-tip sandwiches that blew everyone away.

By the end, the double elimination bracket was dominated by Placer Robotics’ “Unmarked Grave, with BCP’s very own Culverizer and Omni Seven in 2nd and 3rd. To see highlights from the event, click here: www.instagram.com/p/Cl1h9ZBplbO/

Mr. Dutton

“The event surpassed all students’ goals and expectations, serving as a fantastic proof-of-concept for future iterations of the event.”
